LOLOET is an alternative ambient band from Tokyo, Japan.

Formed in 2023 by vocalist and artist Ayaka Wada during her studies in Paris, the group brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds to create music that moves between composition and improvisation. Their sound combines ambient drones, dub, experimental music, environmental sound, spoken word, and minimalist grooves.

Inspired by Japanese Zen philosophy, ritual practices, and the idea of coexistence, LOLOET explores what they call “Circle of Echoes” — sound that resonates through the interaction of musicians, audience, and place.

Their performances take place not only in music venues but also in bookstores, museums, galleries, and alternative art spaces, creating immersive environments where listening becomes a shared experience.

Sound is not produced by musicians alone.

It emerges through the interaction of performers, listeners, architecture, memory, and environment.

Full Bio

LOLOET was formed in 2023 by vocalist and artist Ayaka Wada while studying in Paris and seeking a more open and experimental approach to music.

After field recordings in Paris and collaborative studio sessions in Tokyo, the group released their debut track “SŒUR” in 2023, followed by “une petite pensée” in 2024 and the vinyl single “ELLE” in 2025.

At the center of LOLOET’s work is the concept of “Circle of Echoes” (Kankyoon): the belief that sound is created through relationships — between performers, listeners, architecture, memory, and the surrounding environment.

The band’s music blends ambient, dub, improvisation, spoken word, environmental recordings, and minimalist composition. French-language poetry and spoken texts often move fluidly into melody, while trumpet, guitar, bass, drums, electronics, and environmental sounds create shifting sonic landscapes.

Influenced by Japanese Zen aesthetics, ritual traditions, contemporary art, and experimental music, LOLOET seeks a form of expression that is both abstract and emotionally direct.

In February 2026, the band released its first full-length album, Circle of Echoes, presenting the most complete realization of its artistic vision to date.

LOLOET continues to perform across Japan and internationally, appearing in live houses, art spaces, museums, bookstores, and cultural events.
